Whiplash got its name because of the movement that causes this injury is much like the movement of a whip. And one can only imagine the kind of damage that can be caused when our body is forced into that motion. Most people would assume that whiplash injuries would only occur if going high speeds. But we can assure you that is not the case, in fact most whiplash injuries occur at speeds as low as 14 mph. Whiplash is also a common occurrence drink sports, work related injuries, and any activities that could cause your neck to suddenly jerk. whiplash often causes injuries to soft tissue, surrounding your desk, spine, bones, ligaments and nerves.

Here are some symptoms of whiplash to look out for, if you feel like you might have any of the following please consult your doctor.

  • Fatigue
  • Neck pain
  • Stiffness/limited range of motion
  • Dizziness
  • Pain/tenderness in upper back and shoulders
  • Increased neck pain upon movement.

Symptoms can take up to 24 hours to be felt. Other symptoms to look out for that may be more delayed or less common are the following.

  • Depression
  • Irritability
  • Trouble with your memory
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Blurred vision
  • Trouble concentrating
